Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Loan Officer to lead loan origination efforts and support the growth of our lending portfolio. This position plays a key role in originating and managing commercial, consumer, or mortgage loans (based on focus), mentoring junior loan officers, and maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with excellent credit acumen, business development skills, and a deep understanding of regulatory requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate, underwrite, and manage a portfolio of high-quality loans (commercial, consumer, or mortgage). 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, acting as a trusted financial advisor. 

  • Evaluate creditworthiness by analyzing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral. 

  • Collaborate with credit analysts, processors, and underwriters to ensure efficient loan processing and closing. 

  • Ensure loans comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements. 

  • Lead and mentor junior loan officers by providing training, guidance, and support to help them meet their goals. 

  • Stay informed on market trends, lending products, interest rates, and regulatory changes. 

  • Participate in community and networking events to enhance the bank’s visibility and generate new lending opportunities. 

  • Provide high-level service and solutions tailored to individual borrower needs. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of lending experience, with a proven track record of loan production and portfolio management. 

  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, loan structuring, and risk assessment. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 

  • Strong leadership abilities and experience mentoring or leading junior staff. 

  • Proficiency in lending software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • NMLS license (required for mortgage lending roles). 

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with regular travel for client meetings, site visits, and community involvement. 

  • Occasional evening or weekend work for events or client needs. 

Compensation
Competitive base salary plus commission/bonus opportunities. Full benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and continuing education support.
